Maryl Winterscheid
N. A. S. M. Certified Personal Fitness Trainer & Corrective Exercise Specialist ASEP Coaching Certificate “I'd never worked with a trainer before contacting Maryl; she was really communicative and creative, and the experience was great. She asked me about my specific goals and what activities I was involved in and created a program that was highly individualized. She came up with some excellent exercises that were geared toward my work in martial arts, and she also lent focus on my overall strength and balance to help me reach & exceed my goals. She also encouraged me to contact her with questions and to generally check in with my progress. I feel like her approach fit me well: she listened to what I wanted, gave me a variety of workout & exercise options, and then just let me go to town.” - Sarah Choszczky

I was born and raised in Cleveland, OH where I lived until 1st grade when our family moved to Brussels, Belgium. While living in Brussels, we would travel to the Alps where I learned how to snowboard. We moved back to Ohio when I was entering 5th grade. Upon returning to Ohio, I began my career as a competitive snowboarder, first competing regionally, then nationally and eventually, internationally where I earned the title of overall Junior World Champion. Having won Jr. Worlds, I was invited to compete in two consecutive Winter X-Games. In 2008 I moved to Durango, CO to finish up my undergraduate degree at Fort Lewis College with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in education and a minor in Adventure Education. During the summer of 2013 I was working as a zip-line guide and the pulley system malfunctioned, leaving me with a traumatic back injury requiring surgery.  Following the injury, I realized the importance of my own health and wellness and I wanted to share this passion with others. I earned my personal training certificate from NASM two months following my surgery and started working with clients in the fall of 2014. I added the certification of Corrective Exercise Specialist to my resume in September 2016.  I work with clients in gym, at home and in outdoor environments in and around the Durango area while catering personally to each clients specific needs and goals.
